THIS SPECIES IS POLYGYNOUS, AND COLONIES CAN HAVE MANY QUEENS, BUYING MULTIPLE QUEENS IS  ADVISED FOR TO SPEED UP GROWTH OF THE COLONY

Temnothorax curvispinosus, also known as the acorn ant is a small ant that lives throughout North America. They vary greatly in colour, and have small colonies of up to 200 workers. They are fairly easy to keep, but have small workers and frequent, small feedings- perfect for office desk colonies. We get around 20 of these each year, and they can become secondarily polygynous, accepting new queens once colonies are mature. Queens of this species are generally 4-5 mm, while workers can be 2-4 mm. Their recommended temperature is 21-23 degrees Celsius while their recommended humidity levels are 60-70%.
