Heating is an important part of ant care! Most ant species grow much faster when heated than when kept in room temperature. We provide an inexpensive heat cable so you can provide the best for your colonies.
The Super Reptile Heat Cable is soft, flexible, and moisture resistant. Ant care: start by putting the cable barely touching the mouth of the test tube or the side of the formicarium. If the ants move away, it is likely too hot. If the ants move closer, it is likely too cold. Ideally, heat only one side of the formicarium to create a temperature gradient across the entire set up. Generally, the risk of overheating ants is greater than the risk of underheating. Most species do best kept around 27 Celsius, or 80 Fahrenheit.
