US Ant Shipping Policy

Down The Ant Hill complies with federal law. We are permitted to sell ants to certain states by the USDA. Do not order ants that cannot be shipped to your state, as the order will not be fulfilled and a restocking fee will be assessed.

Down the Ant Hill has a 14 day live guarantee policy for colonies shipped to customers, assuming that there are no obvious faults attributable to the customer (e.g. forgot to water, fed food with pesticides, dropped the colony, colony kept in gel farm).

We have two types of claims for live ants.

1. Dead On Arrival

If your ants are dead on arrival, you must to notify us within 2 hours of arrival after receipt to qualify for DOAs, and pictures of the animals must be sent by email within 24 hours

If the ants are delivered to an indoor mailbox, the Notification Period can be extended to 24 hours.

We can provide a reshipment or store credit of the colony at our expense if it is dead on arrival.

2. Poor Condition

If your ants are in poor condition on arrival, you must to notify us within 2 hours of arrival after receipt to qualify for Poor Condition Extensions, and pictures of the animals must be sent by email within 24 hours

If the ants are delivered to an indoor mailbox, the Notification Period can be extended to 24 hours.

We can provide a reshipment or store credit of the colony at our expense if the colony does not recover within 14 days.

3. Healthy Upon Arrival, but Failure to Thrive

If the ants arrive healthy upon arrival, but die or otherwise enter poor condition, you should inform us as soon as possible. We may ask a questionnaire including but not limited to:

Pictures of animals and habitat required, and brief description used

What is the temperature and humidity in the enclosure? What device are you using to measure these?|

How long has the animal been in your care?

Did the animal behave unusually before? If so, please describe the behavior and the duration is has occurred.

Failure to comply with our questionnaire and photos may result in your LAG claim being ineligible for a refund or replacement

If Down The Ant Hill deems the animals failed to thrive by no fault of the customer, a refund will be issued.
