Reticulitermes hesperus, or the Western Subterranean Termite is a species of termite native to BC. This species has workers that reach up to 3-4 mm in length, and imagoes that reach up to 6mm in length. Their colonies can reach up to a million individuals, and queenless colonies will start producing secondary reproductives when past 100 individuals. These termites can be fed on most woods, and are otherwise a very easy species to care for, preferring 60-80% humidity and temperatures from 10-30 degrees year round. This species should not be hibernated outside in colder areas.
Pictured is Reticulitermes flavipes, its' eastern counterpart. Orders of R. hesperus will ship out before the end of August.
