Dandelion Seeds (Taraxacum officinale) appear to be the number one staple food source for most of our seed-eating ants, particularly for Western Harvester Ants, Pogonomyrmex occidentalis. These ants can survive and even thrive based solely on these seeds. Tetramorium sppMessor spp also seem to be able to survive on a diet of solely seeds. Myrmica spp and Solenopsis spp will also take these seeds.

We offer the following sizes:

  • 10g seeds (~0.3 oz)
  • 30g seeds (~1 oz)
  • 60g seeds (~2 oz)
  • 150g seeds (~5 oz)
  • 300g seeds (~10 oz)

For a founding colony, 10g of seeds can last half a year

For a founding colony, 30g of seeds can last around a year

..etcetera

Note that the larger the colony, the more seeds will be eaten
